Sainsbury Pinhoe Book Sale - Supporting Honeylands Children's Charity

Hi everyone,
Sainsburys Store at Pinhoe are holding a secondhand book sale in the foyer of their store on Wednesday 19th February during opening hours. Why not pop along, do your shopping, have a coffee and buy a book for a small donation. There are some great books and some real bargains to be had and of course you will be helping raise funds for Honeyland's Children's Charity.

Julia the PR Ambassador for Sainsburys has done a fantastic job organising this event, so do support her and the charity.

Hope to see you there.

Exeter Business Club

I had the pleasure a couple of weeks ago of being invited to the Exeter Business Club breakfast meeting at Fresha Cafe on Sowton. What a great group of businesses and very welcoming. I gave a short brief about Honeyland's Children's Charity (HCC) and the work of the Honeylands Centre.

I have now heard from Ashley at Printing.com who invited me that HCC have been chosen as one of two charities to be the Business Club's charity of the year. Absolutely fantastic and I am really looking forward to working with this group of SME's throughout the year for the benefit of those who attend Honeylands.

This just shows what a great community spirit there is amongst the group and how businesses large or small can come together for the benefit the local community.

I know we will have a super year, oh and by the way the breakfast was good also.

The Oakford Players

The cast of Aladdin invited myself and Pat from Honeyland's Children's Charity and Josh from the Calvert Trust to the Red Lion at Oakford, near Bampton last night to present both charities with cheques to the value of £850. What a great bunch of people and lively too. It was lovely that the children from the pantomime cast made the presentation.

The Oakford Players on the 5th, 6th and 7th December last year put on their annual pantomime in Oakford Village Hall to raise funds for Honeylands CC and the Trust. Thirty five people from the Players came out in dreadfully wet conditions to greet us, make us warmly welcome and wine and dine us with a lovely roast meal in the recently refurbished village pub.

The Oakford Players have been putting on an annual pantomime since 1988 raising funds for local children's charities and have raised in excess of £22,000. What a fantastic achievement and great local community spirit. Well done to Strong Pong/Executioner/Genie/Chairman Patrick Lester and the whole cast and supporters - may you continue with your successful fund raising efforts.

Finally a big thank you from all the children, families and supporters of Honeylands for your kind and thoughtfull gesture.
Like the pantomime a good night was had by all.
